Cabela’s History in Canada
Cabela`s is an outdoor recreation retailer owned by the American company Bass Pro Shops. Cabela`s entered the Canadian market in 2007 when the company purchases S.I.R. Sports Store. The retail chain sells outdoor products for hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating, and wildlife-watching. It also sells outdoor clothing and furnishings.
The Canadian headquarters is located in Winnipeg at:
25 De Baets Street
Shopping at Cabela’s
There are many ways that customers can shop with Cabela`s. As of 2019 they had 10 locations across Canada in British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Cabela`s also distributes mail order catalogues, runs a call centre, and allows customers to shop online at www.cabelas.ca or through the Cabela`s mobile app. Online shoppers can pick up their purchases in-store of their nearest locations.
In addition to the mail-order catalogues, Cabela`s also distributes a bi-weekly sales flyer featuring discount items and events. Stores not only host sales events, they also host educational courses and provide services to customers. Some stores buy used firearms, have an archery range, and offer hunter safety courses.
Cabela`s sells high-quality brands as well as their own private label products under the Cabela`s name. Products under the Cabela`s label include outdoor equipment and accessories, clothing and footwear, and home and cabin items.
Cabela’s Community Involvement
In 2017, Cabela`s Canada launched the Cabela`s Canada Outdoor Fund to help instill future generations with the love of the outdoors that the retailer embraces. The fund supports Canadian organizations that advocate for, educate about, conserve, and help others enjoy an outdoor lifestyle.
The Fund raises money by encouraging Cabela`s customer to round up to the nearest dollar when purchasing product online, through the call centre, or in store at their retail locations.
